San Francisco Bay Area
Berkeley
San Francisco
Downtown/Union Square/Nob Hill
- Union Square
- Free Wifi (UnionSquareWireless network)
- No outlets, silly :)
- You'll have to catch some shade to be able to see your laptop screen. Next to the obelisk (in the center) is a good place.
- Golden Gate Perk Internet Cafe (Kearny and Bush): http://www.yelp.com/biz/golden-gate-perk-internet-cafe-san-francisco
- Free Wifi
- Adequate outlets
- This is an Internet Cafe, so they're cool with you being there. Nice view of the restaurant in the alley from some seats, and sometimes they play movies (with closed captioning) on the plasma screen.
Castro
Lower Haight
- Cafe Du Soleil (Fillmore at Waller): http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-du-soleil-san-francisco
- Free Wifi
- Think outlets were recently removed?
- Very classy, European-feeling atmosphere, good food, feels a bit awkward to work on a laptop there, staff is friendly, but gives off vibe of not being really keen on having Moworkers there.
- The Grind (Haight and Pierce): http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-grind-san-francisco
- Free (historically spotty) Wifi
- Adequate # of outlets
- Restaurant-like feel makes it feel weird working here, lots of food, terrible Wifi connection every time.
- Cafe International (Haight and Fillmore): http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-international-san-francisco
- Wifi: $5/day
- A few outlets
- On the Corner (Oak and Divisadero):http://www.yelp.com/biz/on-the-corner-san-francisco-2
- Free Wifi (one AP is 2 hours free, another is AnchorFree)
- Adequate # of outlets
- Very few tables but there's also some nice sofas
- Good food, coffee, and tee all available
Mission District
- Coffee Bar (Mariposa & Florida): http://www.yelp.com/biz/coffee-bar-san-francisco
- Free Wifi
- Good amount of outlets
- Modern architecture-feeling atmosphere, remodeled warehouse with concrete floors, plenty of food, but fancy and expensive. Good place to bring more formal clients
- Java Supreme (19th and Guerrerro): http://www.yelp.com/biz/java-supreme-san-francisco
- Free Wifi (get password)
- Adequate # of outlets
- Small place, very inexpensive prices, no sink in the bathroom, but you'll notice there's one towards the back corner of the cafe - so you can still wash your hands :)
- Maxfield's (17th and Dolores): http://www.yelp.com/biz/maxfields-house-of-caffeine-san-francisco
- Free Wifi
- Good amount of outlets
- Lots of natural light, music is somewhat annoying, has some bad wraps, and mediocre Quiche. Overall, a good atmosphere if you bring headphones.
- Mission Creek (20th and Valencia): http://www.yelp.com/biz/mission-creek-cafe-san-francisco
- Free Wifi
- Tons of outlets
- Very quiet back room, pretty no-frills overall
- Cafe Petra (18th and Guerrerro): http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-petra-san-francisco
- Free Wifi
- Plenty of outlets
- Good food selection, small and very quiet place (not good for chatting), usually very warm, has lots of cushions to sit on benches along the walls
- Progressive Grounds (21st and Bryant): http://www.yelp.com/biz/progressive-grounds-cafe-san-francisco
- Free Wifi
- Very few outlets
- Has lots of wraps.
- Sugar Lump (24th and Bryant): http://www.yelp.com/biz/sugarlump-coffee-lounge-san-francisco
- Haven't tried this one yet
Noe Valley
North Beach
- Bay Bridge Coffee (Fremont and Howard): http://www.yelp.com/biz/bay-bridge-coffee-san-francisco
- Haven't tried this place, allegedly, has free Wifi
- Brainwash (7th and Folsom): http://www.yelp.com/biz/brainwash-cafe-and-laundromat-san-francisco
- Free Wifi
- A few outlets
- Laundromat/Restaurant/Cafe/Arcade, extensive food selection
- Moto Java (9th and Bryant): http://www.yelp.com/biz/moto-java-san-francisco
- Free Wifi
- A few outlets
- Very small place - it's connected to a motorcycle shop, so lots of motorcycle-themed decor
- Panera Bread (4th and King): http://www.yelp.com/biz/panera-bread-san-francisco
- Free Wifi
- Lots of outlets
- Very big place, lots of food, right by CalTrain station, Philz is nearby if you want a quick venue-change
- Philz (4th and Berry): http://www.yelp.com/biz/philz-coffee-san-francisco-3
- Free Wifi
- A few outlets
- Not lots of tables, but very cushy leather couches, ridiculously friendly staff, bathroom is a little weird (unisex with two stalls), recommend locking it when you go in to avoid awkward situations, Panera Bread is nearby if you want a quick venue change or get hungry (not much food here).
- Ritual Roasters (21st and Valencia): http://www.yelp.com/biz/ritual-coffee-roasters-san-francisco
- A last resort. Has free Wifi, but they covered all of their outlets (they don't want you there).
