San Francisco Bay Area

Berkeley

San Francisco

Downtown/Union Square/Nob Hill

  • Union Square
    • Free Wifi (UnionSquareWireless network)
    • No outlets, silly :)
    • You'll have to catch some shade to be able to see your laptop screen. Next to the obelisk (in the center) is a good place.
  • Golden Gate Perk Internet Cafe (Kearny and Bush): http://www.yelp.com/biz/golden-gate-perk-internet-cafe-san-francisco
    • Free Wifi
    • Adequate outlets
    • This is an Internet Cafe, so they're cool with you being there. Nice view of the restaurant in the alley from some seats, and sometimes they play movies (with closed captioning) on the plasma screen.

Lower Haight

  • Cafe Du Soleil (Fillmore at Waller): http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-du-soleil-san-francisco
    • Free Wifi
    • Think outlets were recently removed?
    • Very classy, European-feeling atmosphere, good food, feels a bit awkward to work on a laptop there, staff is friendly, but gives off vibe of not being really keen on having Moworkers there.
  • The Grind (Haight and Pierce): http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-grind-san-francisco
    • Free (historically spotty) Wifi
    • Adequate # of outlets
    • Restaurant-like feel makes it feel weird working here, lots of food, terrible Wifi connection every time.
  • Cafe International (Haight and Fillmore): http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-international-san-francisco
    • Wifi: $5/day
    • A few outlets
  • On the Corner (Oak and Divisadero):http://www.yelp.com/biz/on-the-corner-san-francisco-2
    • Free Wifi (one AP is 2 hours free, another is AnchorFree)
    • Adequate # of outlets
    • Very few tables but there's also some nice sofas
    • Good food, coffee, and tee all available
